I remember seeing some of Tom Mandrake's work in a DC publication called 'New Talent Showcase' around '82-ish. If memory serves, it was basically filled with short pieces done by those who had just graduated from the Kubert school. As soon as I saw the piece by Tom, I loved his kinetic style of inking & guessed he was destined for stardom. I wasn't always blessed with such foresight however, I recall seeing a strip by Norm Breyfogle in the same publication & thought it was dreadful ....how wrong can one man be??
